Social media is one of our most effective tools for reaching our core base, getting our message out quickly, and growing our collective power. With 26% of Australians getting their news from social media, the content we create plays a crucial role in shaping the conversation and sharing what’s really happening in the climate movement.

What You’ll Learn:

• Why Social Media Matters: How online storytelling builds trust, connection, and real-world action.
• Platform Basics: Overview of Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, Bluesky, and X.
• Rising Tide Content & Style: How to apply our brand, colours, and tone to make content that stands out.
• Creating Content: What makes good content, from eye-catching visuals to compelling captions.
• Tools: Tools of the trade that we use to create.
• Events: How to create and promote events on social media

Who Is This For?

This workshop is entry-level and open to everyone across all local hubs nationwide!

We are especially looking for people who have skills—or a strong willingness to learn—in:

• ✍️ Writing & Storytelling (Captions, short texts, messaging, blog posts)

• 🎨 Graphic Design (Infographics, graphics, templates)

• 📸 Content Capture (Taking photos/videos at actions & events)

• 🎬 Video Editing (Short-form Reels, TikToks, Shorts)
