2026 has been a year of climate devastation: record floods in Northern Australia, deadly heatwaves and massive forest fires across the Northern Hemisphere, and devastating glacial flooding in Nepal. We are now experiencing an El Niño event that is expected to become the strongest on record. 

Yet, the Labor Government continues to approve new coal and gas projects. In the face of this, Rising Tide continues to build momentum. This year we have built strong campaigns to stop the biggest coal mine extension in NSW history, and an Australia-wide campaign to stop large-scale fracking of the Beetaloo Basin (a massive climate bomb). This campaign is targeting ANZ, the only one of the big four banks to not rule out funding critical infrastructure needed for fracking the Beetaloo basin at scale.  

We are also building our movement and skilling up in our 9-day Action Training Camps. 

Plus, we have big plans on the horizon; Paddle for the Planet, the 2027 People’s Blockade and more disruptive actions.

In a dark moment for our planet, collective action is one of the few places where hope grows, and that’s exactly what we’re helping to build.
