SAY NO TO HVO!

Rising Tide are taking the fight to the largest coal project in NSW History - and we need your help.

Hunter Valley Operations Continuation Project (HVO) is a climate bomb currently under consideration by the NSW Government. HVO is a massive coal expansion by Glencore and Yancoal that would become the biggest coal project in NSW history.

Right now the Independent Planning Commission(IPC) is accepting submissions from the community before the fate of this project is decided.

If approved, HVO would dig up coal for export until 2045 and unleash emissions equivalent to eight times NSW’s annual total pollution over its lifetime.

At the same time, everyday people are already paying the price of climate collapse — through rising insurance premiums, higher energy bills, soaring food costs, and more frequent floods, fires and extreme weather.

This injustice needs to be answered - and we need your help!

It only take 2 minutes to add your voice!

During the cost of living crisis one thing is clear
NSW Cannot afford another coal mine.

Expansions of coal and gas projects are driving the increase in climate disasters like droughts, fires and floods. These climate disasters are pushing up the cost of living for everyday people.

While everyday people bear the brunt of coal’s climate impacts, the coal corporations make billions and workers and communities are being left without a plan for what comes next.

The world is moving beyond coal. The Treasury predicts Australia’s coal exports will halve by 2030. Major mines like Mt Arthur and Mangoola are already heading toward closure. Thousands of Hunter workers face uncertainty — yet the Minns Government still has no serious transition plan in place.

We reject the lie that communities must choose between jobs and climate action.

We can stop HVO and fight for a properly funded transition for workers and regional communities.

That means:

  • Rejecting the HVO climate bomb
  • Funding direct support, retraining, and secure futures for coal workers
  • Making coal corporations pay their fair share through a profits tax to fund the transition

Together we’ve challenged anti-protest laws, turned around coal ships, and built a movement powerful enough to take on the fossil fuel industry.

Now we have the chance to stop the biggest coal project in NSW history.

We don’t have much time to show the Independent Planning Commission (IPC) that the people of NSW want a safe climate — and that means rejecting HVO. Over the coming weeks, every voice and every action will matter -  Take 2 minutes to FILL IN YOUR SUBMISSION!
