Disruption to end the climate destruction:
Rising Tide speaking tour

6pm-7:30pm Mon Aug 28
The Joinery, 111 Franklin St, Adelaide

In February this year, the U.N. Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, said “2023 is a year of reckoning. We need disruption to end the destruction.”

Rising Tide organisers are touring the country to promote Rising Tide’s next national mobilisation: a 2-day, 3,000 strong, family-friendly flotilla The People's Blockade of the World's Largest Coal Port. This forum will discuss why we need this mass, disruptive movement and how we can build one that has the power to match the urgency of the climate crisis and achieve transformative change.

Speakers include:

  • Dominic Guerrera - a Ngarrindgeri, Kaurna and Italian background poet

  • Senator Barbara Pocock - Greens SA, current climate politics

  • Dr Cassandra Star - Director of the Climate and Sustainability Policy Research

  • Alexa Stuart - 19-year-old climate activist from Rising Tide Newcastle
