The People’s Blockade saw over three thousand people converge at Newcastle coal port (the world’s largest) to demand our government stop approving new fossil fuel projects, and instead tax fossil fuel export profits at 75% to fund community and industrial transition, and pay for climate loss and damage.
109 people from ages 15 to 97 were arrested as they held the channel for over 2 hours past an “approved” 30 hour protest window, sparking global media coverage and the beginning of a national climate movement.
