After the blockade, you’re invited to convoy to Canberra on the last sitting days of Parliament to demand the PM answers: “when will you stop approving new coal & gas?”
Why?
As emissions keep rising, climate disasters like floods and fires are escalating beyond our ability to adapt. Yet our government is still approving new fossil fuels, pouring fuel on the climate fire.
Newcastle coal port is the largest in the world and Australia’s largest contribution to the climate crisis. When burnt, its coal equals about 1% of global carbon emissions.
A peaceful and disruptive citizens’ movement is the only way to break the fossil fuel industry’s hold on our democracy.
