Dungog Fringe Festival

The Dungog Film Festival, is sponsored by the NSW Minerals Council (NSW Mining). Rivers SOS will be in town to tell the real story of what mining is doing to our environment. Presenting-:

What State Government & mining companies, don't want people in NSW to know is happening to headwaters, soaks/swamps, aquifers, catchment areas, creeks, rivers, dams, our natural water sources!


The Doug Walters Pavilion is booked from Thursday 27th May to Sunday 30th May 2010, where Rivers SOS will again show their videos and ask other groups to bring their displays of their areas mining impacts. This will show mining is happening in many places in NSW with devastating affects on towns/villages, environment with unacceptable Government approvals.

Thursday 27th May-: Bric-a-brac, toys, plants, jams, pickles for sale (for the day) while others will be setting up displays, passing out flyers and putting up posters in town and the documentaries of Rivers SOS and other groups will be playing throughout the 4 days (8am-10pm).

Friday 28th May-: Doug Walters Pavilion (8am-10pm).

Saturday 29th May-: We have 2 locations, Doug Walters Pavilion (8am-10pm) and Royal Hotel's downstairs dining room.

Sunday 30th May-: Rivers SOS Alliance Members Meeting - Royal Hotel from 9.30 a.m. onwards.

Accommodation Options

 

Properties happy to provide accommodation: Stephen & Amanda Albury Limeburners Creek (1/2 hour from Dungog). (3 rooms) and 3 cabins (camp style, no power, no running water & no toilets) being delivered to property before end of May (bunk beds and double beds) only have 1 house toilet & camping toilet in (cottage being renovated).

 

Mark & Anna Daniels (1 double bed cottage). 15 minutes away from Dungog and possible camping areas unpowered.

(On the Williams River - the one NSW Govt. wants to dam).

 

  • 4 x cabins (1 double bed and 3 bunk beds) $60.00 for 2 people ($30.00 each).  Extra people in cabin $5.00 extra per person.

  • Small cabin $49.00 for 2 people.

 

Camping (tents or own caravan sites)

  • Tent sites Powered = $19.00

  • Tent Sites Unpowered = $14.00

 

I have booked the hall (Doug Walters Pavilion, Dungog) for Thursday 27th May to Sun 30th May for the Dungog Film Festival where Rivers SOS will again show their Videos Rivers of Shame etc. On Thursday some of us (locals) will hand out flyers on Thursday and hopefully display flyer in shop windows of Dungog and the hall will be available for anyone wanting to meet us and bring their display into the hall that day. (I can pick up key from 8.30 a.m. on Thursday).

 

Saturday 29th May, we have 2 locations - Doug Walters Pavilion and the Royal Hotel has given us their dining room (main Street access), so both locations will be used for Rivers SOS purpose.

 

Sunday 30th May is Rivers SOS Conference day in the Royal Hotel Dungog 10 am onwards.

 

Accommodation:- Up to everyone to book his or her type of accommodation wanted for the weekend - sooner rather than later please by phoning the Hotel or campground directly at Clarencetown. Phone Amanda for the 3 property lodgings on offer.

 

Your urgent Help and assistance over the 4 days is needed please, either on a particular day or days over the Film Festival (hand out flyers, be present to talk to people and in the 2 locations on Saturday etc).

Rivers SOS Conference is being held on Sunday 30th May at the Royal Hotel which will open (for us) at 9.30 a.m., if people want to meet at the Doug Walters Pavilion before hotel opens you are welcome to do so. Doug Walters Pavilion will open around 8.00 a.m., People can then transfer to the Royal Hotel dining room for the Rivers SOS Conference meeting.


Donations to Rivers SOS will be gladly accepted to help cover the cost of hall hire at $70.00 per day.


Also Rivers SOS is still paying off the Court Case in the Land & Environment Court where they were approached by EDO and Barrister to try to have Part 3A repealed. Rivers SOS lost the 3 day Court Case and received a bill of $7,500.00.


Membership into Rivers SOS is:- $10.00 per person, $5.00 concession, $20.00 group.
